On the 3rd of May, and to initiate the
month with good news, the Xinaxtli Theater Company of CEPE/UNAM – Taxco
presented its new presentation “The Jaguar’s Spots” at the “Ignacio Manuel
Altamirano” primary school, located in the city of Taxco de Alarcón.
In addition, on the 4th of May the group made its official presentation of this play in the Veracruz Plazuela in Taxco before an integrated audience, primarily of boys and girls of various ages.
“The Jaguar’s Spots,” written and
directed by Layo Oviedo, a professor of theater at CEPE/UNAM – Taxco, is a play
that tells a story and significance of the characteristics of the spots on a
jaguar, which symbolizes the state of Guerrero. Written in a poetic language,
this play permits us to discover the cosmos of the pre-Hispanic world and its
relation with the stars and nature through the history of a jaguar that lives in
the Ring of a Star and who loves to contemplate the moon, mountains, and rivers.
