In the frame
of the 20th anniversary and in collaboration with the Dance
Department of UNAM, CEPE/UNAM – Taxco presented an excellent function of
contemporary dance at the “Revolution” stage.
Under
the direction of Francisco Córdova Azuela, the Physical Momentum Project Dance
Company presented choreography titled “Arteria,” a montage of scenes mixed with
elements and distinct work tools for 16 female dancers.
The work
narrates the brutal hopelessness of humanity, the brutal hopelessness that a
woman/man lives in different ages of life, in the moments where crisis
generates chaos. “Arteria” locates the
conducts of the fears and the ecstasy of life.
This
choreography looks to know the double meaning of sexuality and thought; to
confront masculinity and femininity; to exalt the physical and biological
differences of women and men in all colors.

The saxophone quartet Sax Son returns to Taxco with much success and an
excellent show
One
more time and to delight the public of Taxco, the Saxophone quartet Sax Son
performed an extraordinary and innovative performance at the “Revolution” stage
of CEPE/UNAM – Taxco as part of the week of festivities for our 20th
anniversary.
This
group of talented young musicians performed music to the movie “Berlin:
symphony of a great city,” a documentary film from 1927, directed by Walter
Ruffmann, in which we were able to observe Germany in a time of recuperation,
later in a state of debts and paying for past error caused by the First World
War.
The
pieces that Sax Son composed for the soundtrack of the film were unedited and
created especially for the classic film by Ruffman. In this way, Sax Son did a wonderful job with
their interesting and evocative compositions that created the moment taken by
Timothy Brock, for the audio symphony of five movements by Waltter Ruttman.
“Berlin:
a great symphonic city” consists also of an invaluable visual documentary to
know the city of Berlin from the decade of the twenties, of which almost
nothing was conserved after the defeat of the Nazis and the entering of the Red
Army in 1945.
The
Sax Son quartet included the force and vitality of classical music with the
color of popular music, without losing the objective of presenting chamber
music with a quartet of new performers that make up the four saxophone players
that have accomplished Latin, modern, and new music. This is the third time that the group has
performed in Taxco in the last two years.
